Attended here for an afterparty. It was a really good place with good food. The restaurant environment is on the smaller side, but the selection of food and drinks is quite nice. The portions are on the lesser size comparable to the prices paid, but the drinks are quite nice. They have more Japanese beer and spirits, but they are nice to drink. If you're just in town for a quieter night with friends, this is a great choice.
Great salmon roll and unagi bowl. Awesome service.
I love this restaurant and the food there. I've been there more than 4 times and it has never disappointed me. Portions are good and the price is fair compared to the quality. The only downside of their menu is that it doesn't change so often, so you can be bored after a few times. I strongly suggest half portion of Shigure (any style) with some other plate (like the buns) to be shared. Good sake selection.
Very elegant and accessible place. They serve generous portions and for affordable prices. We enjoyed the food very much and the waiters were super affable and chatty. Highly recommended.
Went there for lunch and had the miso-katsu. The pork loin cutlet was very good! Also had a few different appetizers and the spicy tuna roll was good as well.
Great find near our hotel in Tribeca... Very nice decor, good service, food was excellent.
Pretty good Japanese food. Yummy ramen (comparable to the over-hyped places in nyc). The best thing - no crowds and wait. Recommend.
Probably one of the best vegan Shigure I've ever had. My hubby loved the Spicy Tan Tan as well. Go, sit at the bar, order a beer, the tofu salad and those two Shigure and your set. Perfect to beat the cold winter New York weather. Nom Nom!
Incredible experience. Perfect for those wanting an "izakaya experience" outside of Japan
Japanese small plates with very large sake selection. Come here for the quiet, stylish and calm atmosphere rather than stellar food. Food is pretty good but won't knock your socks off if you're a Japanese connoisseur. Still, a very pleasant place to hang out with a friend or two.
First time tried a Japanese restaurent, being an Indian could not relate to food much but liked the experience. Beer was good and staff is courteous.
Most authentic Japanese owned and operated establishment in Tribeca and all of Lower Manhattan. Sake and Japanese Whiskey collection is A1 👌. Being half Japanese it's hard to find real Japanese restaurants. The food is also amazing along with there unbeatable happy hour. I'm amazed the price is cheap for a restaurant/bar in Tribeca and the food quality is so high. Remember this is a "Sake Bar" not "Sushi Bar" even though they sell sushi rolls and sashimi which taste amazing.
The drinks were unique since they are all imported from Japan but, very pricey (we ordered Japanese Hibiki Harmony Whiskey) I only got to order an appetizer and it was good, besides the hair I found on it. When we were ready to order, our waitress was no were to be found. I got the attention from another waiter and explained to him we were ready to order. He then said okay and walked away from us. It took us 14 minuets after receiving our drink to try and order. By that time we were extremely hungry and decided to go elsewhere since we were pretty much ignored. The only kept coming to our table once we had the check to pretty much take our bill and their tip.
Interesting appetizers such as crispy whole edamame accent the asian bent of this Tribeca watering hole. Cocktails also lean Japanese. My never-ending quest for a good lower Manhattan caipirinha was essentially a bust, while an alternative drink served in a copper cup was for me largely a miss thanks to the overpowering taste of the copper. The atmosphere is fairly tranquil and chique for a bar. It's more a place you go with a group of your friends and not really a place to make new friends.
First mediocre, below average japaense restaurant in the past 5 yrs.
Nice place, very good food, good service. Must visit.
Pretty awesome little izakaya in tribeca
Decent izakaya but overall nothing special. Good for a lunch spot if you’re in the area. Pork gyoza was the standout dish - really flavourful and succulent. Fried chicken was good and sushi was decent but not outstanding or anything. Atmosphere very causal and a little run down but that is quite izakaya-style anyway - but not somewhere really for say a nice dinner for example. Solid sake menu and friendly staff. They did mix up one of the items ordered and then forgot to re-order the correct dish, but things like this happen. Overall probably a 4.1 or 4.2 on google is probably fair, but the current 4.6 rating is probably overrating it
Was ok. Disappointing katsu don
Good food, good ambient. Better attention!
Authentic menu and good quality
food was authentic and really good! and surprisingly reasonably priced given the fancy location it's at. It's also more spacious than I anticipated from my experience at izakaya/Japanese eateries in Manhattan.
Shigure is incredible! Chiei creates divine cocktails and drinks. Friendly staff, tasty drinks and even better food! The “Shio-Koji” fried chicken is my favorite along with the Spicy Chicken Nanban. The ramen here is also so amazing. From the drink menu, can’t beat the Frozen Lychee martini. This place is a must visit for sake lovers and all of those that enjoy delicious food and drinks!
I very much enjoyed their food and service, great area nearby to where I live. The workers are always very nice. I highly recommend this place.
Shigure is a little bit of a low-key get in a quiet part of Tribeca without a lot of Japanese options. We went there for the first time recently, and wondered why it took us so long to finally try it. Love it!
Excellent sake list, very good food for the more adventurous eater
Food were delicious but came as small size and little pricey. Tables need to be reserved in advance to guarantee sitting. Great selections of drinks, and good selection of happy hour drinks and food as well.
Excellent cocktails with Japanese ingredients, great sake selection, friendly and attentive staff. Love this place.
The tonkotsu ramen was great, and the service matched the food.
Authentic, cozy and delicious.
Tried their signature Japanese beer on draft and it was excellent
Fantastic atmosphere and bar attendees. All very knowledgeable about the sake. Also sole very delicious and authentic Japanese food!
Great place to hangout, especially during happy hour. Good food, drinks and sushi.
The Google ratings is definitely for the vibe of the bar and the drinks more than the actual ramen, which was what I was looking for. It seems to be the perfect place to catch up with a few good friends over some great drinks and snacks.
Really cozy place, food and drink are fantastic!
Been here a couple of times and the food is great. Great service and the drinks are amazing.
Super cool daily Japanese spot. Great sake, go for the udon.
Excellent lunch at this new-ish Japanese spot. HIghly recommend the chicken nanban and the smoked duck. The takoyaki was as good as it gets in America, though understandably not as good as what you can get in Japan.
Great place to have little japanese dishes with someSake
Just went for lunch. Nice and easy. Good atmosphere. Heard happy hour is a solid offering which I'll have to go back for.
AMAZING PLACE! GREAT WORKERS AND AMAZING FOOD/DRINKS. Cute staff too ;)
Low key spot but very good. We had about 6 dishes between the two of us and we were full! Everything was so tasty. Highly recommend the gyoza. It’s so fresh and cooked so well
An amazing hole in the wall, late night place to get some damn good ramen and drinks. It certainly hits the spot at 1 AM. Definitely a new favorite.
One of the precious neighborhood gems that keep NYC real... Love everything about it...
Hard to find a dedicated sake bar with high quality spirits and a great deal for happy hour. A ghost town at 6pm which I love. Great staff, happily recommended and explained things. Robust menu.
It was really good. Maybe not the best place for a group of boisterous friends but if you're looking for a quiet place to have delicious dinner then you can't go wrong here.
Best drinks of my life.
I came here for lunch and I had such a fantastic lunch. It was simple and quick.
Very nice place. Was looking for BFlat but went here instead.
